Turmeric Moss

I purchased a jar of the Turmeric Moss to try and help with pain and inflammation from a ruptured Achilles injury. I took 2 large spoonfuls a day, straight from the fridge, and after 3 weeks, I’m sure I can feel some improvement. My ankle is a little less swollen and there is a small reduction in the discomfort I’m feeling. For context, this is an injury that’s been lingering and causing me problems for six months. I’m ordering another jar, to hopefully push my recovery further.

Frequently asked questions

What is Irish Sea Moss?

Irish Sea Moss is a type of red algae (seaweed) that grows on the Atlantic coastlines of Ireland, North America & Europe. The scientific name of Irish Sea Moss is Chondrus Crispus. Irish Sea Moss has been harvested and consumed in Ireland for hundreds of years and used as a natural remedy for many conditions from the flu to fatigue. During Ireland's potato famine in the 1940's, Irish Sea Moss was commonly used as food to help prevent sickness and nutritional deficiencies. It is now becoming popular as nature's alternative to snythetic supplements such as multivitamins due to it's nutrient density.

How should I take The Moss Way Irish Sea Moss gel?

We recommend taking 1–2 tablespoons daily, ideally in the morning. You can enjoy it straight from the spoon, stirred into water or juice, or blended into smoothies. It can also be add to hot drinks or food. It’s your daily ritual of nourishment—no prep, no fuss.

What does it taste like?

Our Irish Sea Moss gel has a neutral, light citrus flavour that blends easily into food or drink. It's not fishy, and it's not sweet- just a clean and natural taste. Most customers say they don’t even notice it in smoothies or food. It can also be added into children's food or smoothies without them knowing!

Where does Irish Sea Moss come from?

All our Irish Sea Moss is hand-picked from the West Coast of Ireland where it is grown naturally on the rocky coastline of the Atlantic. The Irish Sea Moss binds to the rocks and naturally pulls minerals and nutrients from the rock and the ocean which is why it is so nutritionally dense.

Is Sea Moss the same as Irish Sea Moss?

The term "Sea Moss" is often misused to describe various warm-water seaweeds like Eucheuma cottonii and Gracilaria (often called Jamaican Irish Moss), which are commonly rope-grown in places like Vietnam and St. Lucia. However, true Irish Sea Moss is Chondrus Crispus, a distinct species that grows naturally in cold Atlantic waters, especially along Ireland’s coast.

Despite the widespread use of the term "Sea Moss" online, 99% of products sold under that name are actually Gracilaria, not the authentic Chondrus Crispus. The Moss Way uses only organic, hand-harvested Chondrus Crispus from the pristine coastline of County Clare, Ireland.

Is your product tested for safety and purity?

Yes. Every batch is independently lab-tested for heavy metals, contaminants, and nutritional profile. We believe in full transparency and uncompromising quality. Please read our Science page if you want to know more.
